Revisiting Practice

Revisiting Practice – 2011

HOME
Throughout the process of re engaging with my practice I have taken inspiration from my personal circumstances and am trying to culminate my explorations in this piece of work around the notion of home.

As an emigrant I have spent more time in England than my country of origin. In the process of this investigation I was exploring the use of language, aiming to convey the cultural shift and change within one person through emigration. In order to make this work less personal, and more accessible, I wanted to hone in on the concept of Home, as this appeared to be what I was trying to construct.

Throughout my conversations and development of the work, it became apparent that even though every person interprets home in an individual way, separated by small nuances and details, most responses were based around relationships, narrative, memory, rituals and habits.
